@Runthatback He admits that Messi is better than he is. He's knows he is a top player, but he also knows he isn't the best, and he doesn't rant when things don't go his way. He's teasing a lot when he talks like that.

Sports journalists need controversy for the sake of making programs interesting, but to me--and I daresay to most people who understand football--it was never even a debate. There have been many great goal scorers in football history, though arguably Ronaldo is among the best especially given his longevity. But Messi is one of a kind. Pele and Maradona come in close, but again, neither of them had the longevity Messi has. And what makes him even more special is his humility. If anyone could boast about his achievements, that would be him. Yet he never points to himself. This is because nobody understands better than him that at the end of the day, it's 11 against 11. His goal is never personal. It's always for the team to win. That is what makes him truly great.

    • Daniel tobal

    • Felipe Mathews
      Felipe Mathews Hace un mes

@HappyPSGamer Wrong. Messi would be the first one to say (and in fact he has said it multiple times) that without his teammates he would be nothing. Nobody understands like him that at the end of the day, it's 11 against 11. That's why you have team trophies and individual trophies. It's really very simple.

    • Felipe Mathews
      Felipe Mathews Hace un mes

@HappyPSGamer Nobody is disrespecting anybody. Saying that one is better than the other does not imply any disrespect. Everybody fails at some point or other. It's part of life. The important thig is what you do with those failures. Getting ¡up and trying again shows character, determination, and commitment.

The first thing you would say is wow I like the way this guy moves. 10 mins later, wow he can pass very well. 2 mins later, wow his shots are so precise and powerful for a player of his size. Messi uses his brain more than his body..He doesn't have the physical appearance of someone like Ronaldo but he plays with the oppositions mentally which kinda forces them to do mistakes on which he capitalises n ppl think it's easy..But actually getting control of your psychological brain is the toughest thing to do as a human.. Apart from skill n talent you need to work very hard to make your brain function like that.. It's not all god gifted..Maybe the dribbling abit but not all.. You need to train very hard day in day out so that your body your brain is at a habit of doing the same thing consistently which makes it look very easy but it's not.. Sports are as much as a psychological sport then it is as a physical sport.. N leo seems to have mastered the sport psychologically..This way combined with his strong physical strength he's able to do things which are almost next to impossible for common ppl to do on a regular basis so consistently.. It's all in the mind..The sub conscious mind.. GREATEST PLAYMAKER, UNBELIEVABLE GOAL SCORER,BEST DRIBBLER PASSER..Just absolute genius at everything..Simply THE GOAT! 🐐

Messi's physical appearance is an advantage for his way of playing. He has a very low center of gravity which helps him turn and run with the ball faster. It's harder to dribble like he does if you are taller.

I wouldn't say he was living in Messi's shadow. However, I do think that CR7 would have been clearly the best of his time in nearly any other era. Messi is simply the GOAT, so to beat him CR7 would have had to become the GOAT himself. That is an insanely tall order.

Anyone who's not a die hard fan of either of these players can easily see that Messi is the better of the two. Maradona won a world cup on his own, in a very poor Argentina team. Maradona also won the league title with Napoli, a mid to bottom table side, in the strongest league in the world at the time, in an era where Italian football showcased the greatest defences of all time. It would be like Messi going to Aston Villa, and winning the league, not once, but twice! Oh.. and the Europa league title too … sorry, but maradona is the undisputed goat 🐐

He (Messi) is the beautiful game of football, we're happy to witness him play...if not for ego and pride, there shouldn't be a debate, as someone who has ever played football, it's more easier to be Ronaldo than Lionel Messi, he's just out of this world. Pure genius, pure Messi masterclass 🐐👑👏

Messi is just on another level as if he becomes one with the ball and has a sixth sense. It is a natural talent but add hard work to that and love for one club (for 99% of his career) then the stars aline and perfection is born. 👍⭐❤️🌟

The Lionel legendary little Magician Messi..
The greatest of all time by a margin..
    No defender in the world..
I repeat no defender in the world..
Can take the ball from Lionel Messi in his prime in one on one..
When a manager like Mourinho says that if you are one on one with Messi you are dead..
    You have to admit..
That this guy is the GOAT..
PENALDO brings his hard work of diving in the game..
But unfortunately it's not enough sorry..

I played football for years and I love watching him play. He's like the kid who was the best at school and just got the ball and took everybody on. ( In every school ,we all rember that person.)
It's not skill, it's natural desire. Balance and a belief that you are better than everybody.
A lot of pros would be 10x better if they had 5% of Messi"s desire.

I think Pele, Maradona and Messi had one thing in common, a low centre of gravity when they moved. That made them so fast over the ground and able to change direction faster than normal mortals. Although Pele could also leap very high making him a double threat. When it comes to still ball especially free kick skills then Maradona and Messi definitely trump Pele though. Messi has become the master of penalty taking too, but in fairness to the others the penalty kick wasnt as important as it is now, so Messi has probably specifically trained more for it.

I'm so glad I was able to see Pele, (missed Best by a little) Cruyff, Maradona and Messi at games, live.
And I can tell the differences.
Each uniquely gifted just unstoppable but even more, each a brain genius on the green.
And there's more very few know but if you saw them you never forget them

Messi is my GOAT. But I understand if other people have different opinions, we all value different things. CR7's just incredible aura, leading example, dedication and unmatched 6th sense for where to be and where to shoot. Had both R9's knees not exploded he'd be in that GOAT conversation. Maradona, for the talent, tenacity, leadership and ruthlessness. Pele for his quality, finishing, his fun style but most of all for how far ahead he was of everyone else back then. But for me with Messi it's the beauty. He plays the beautiful game the most beautifully and I don't think anybody disagrees with that. Messi's passes are often more impressive than his goals, how he sees those passes and pulls them off I'll never know since even the fans in the stands and those of us watching on TV don't see them.

For me, Pele was the G.O.A.T. He had all-round ability. He could dribble, he could score fantastic goals with his head or foot, he had mesmerising acceleration and sudden, sharp changes in direction, set up teammates, you-name-it. But most outstanding was that many of things he did appear to be original, copied by future footballers.
