When I was little I found this video and was like:
“Oh mah gosh. I can make invisible potato chips, eat them during class, and no one would ever know!”

in Indonesia it's called "glass chips", after you bake the chips in the oven. You have to fry it to make it more crispy. I swear you will like it.

It's really cute how Tyler seems to adopt some of Safiya's talking mannerisms, like the iconic "alright".

Omg guys! It's funny for me coz am from India and this is like Papad (pronounced as papar). Like how bread and chapatti. Look for: Sagu papad, tapioca papad, etc.

It...basically looks like you made those huge Vietnamese Rice Cookies.
Where it can become rice paper and then into a rice cookie via microwave or fryer.
Also, I love how cute Saf is being at the end just chomping down on the chip.

They are basically making starch papads which are absolutely common in our country (India) but we use rice instead of potato starch ...The rice papads requires less effort than this one but it tastes the same!!

The deep-fried one is called "Vaththal" in TamilNadu, India. It has many varieties like Onion vaththal, Seeraga vaththal, Javvarisi vaththal and many more. It tastes yummm, try it. You guys will like it.

In India we call them papad!!!.. We sundry it oil fry... And enjoy it as a side snack during lunch or dinner...
Fun tip... You can add a little bit of chopped onions tomatoes coriander some shev salt pepper and chilli powder over it and make masala papad... Love it!!

I actually made these with the help of my mom. I agree it doesn’t taste good and it isn’t worth it. Chips = good Clear chips = bad

In India everyone will eat. Those are called "papads" in india. It tastes good. There is nothing new about it

What we do is sun dry for 2 days rather putting in the oven for hours(save energy), and deep fry in hot oil (but not fry it for too long for it have any golden or brown color).. this is a recipe to be made in summers in bulk and enjoy it for months! 😁 it has good shelf life if stored without frying..

In south India we make these and they're called Sandige in kannada and few other native Indian languages (like Tulu). These are basically condiments that are made from different kind of starch and here we sun dry them so it's a longer process. They're made in a lot of different ways and in variety of flavors. It's not papad but ya it's kinda similar

In my country theres a traditional food call Kripca (Glasses Chips) that really hype and taste really good. But its not made from potatoes. Its made from cassava.

In some other videos about clear potato chips they make the starch straight from the potatoes themselves other than adding more cornstarch like what they do with this recipe xD when I see Tyler adding cornstarch I'm like 'dude that is not entirely potato' and instead of going through the hassle with potatoes, we can just use the cornstarch and salt (and other seasoning) alone. On the other hand deep frying the starch chips is brilliant because that is one of the truest ways to make chips 👍 good job!

Mostly in India, we use Sabudana ( Tapioca pearl) for the same... Its very easy and taste better

You can get them at the Asian stores in like little boxes, The Chips before fried are also clear and when fried they also sribble up Into that kind of texture like The last potatoe chips.

It looks like those shrimp chips you can fry and turns almost like a styrofoam texture. Ive eaten it since i was a little kid.

do it again, put drops of food coloring on the clear stuff stir around (like some marble stuff) then fry it really hot so that it forms into crazy forms.

It cooks exactly the same process but instead of oven we dry the chip under the sun for a day and deep fry it
Just put itt in your mouth and it will melt on its own

It's look and maybe taste like some Indonesian snacks. The transparent one look so similar with what we call "keripik beling". Indonesian peoples usually add another flavor to the chips, with a lot of spice and herbs. And the white, crunchy one looks a lot like "kerupuk"

I enjoy Tyler’s videos just as much as Safiya’s. They’re both such smart, funny people!

The reason that the chips that you fried in less hot oil didn't come out tasting the same, is because you didn't fry them. You fried them correctly the first time. The second time, the oil wasn't hot enough. still, good job. :D

i will abandon my channel and focus all my energy on making "transparent cooking" videos from now on 😂

Soooo I believe your first fried batch was this type of chips that are fried in oil that is commonly known as shrimp chips. When they hit the oil they expand and gain bubbles so this chip is light and airy and kinda sticks to your tongue.
