The number of Grand Slams doesn't matter as what this man has done for the sport of tennis will never be done again, played the game better than anyone, humble in victory, gracious in defeat, ice cool on court, calm & calculated, the epic wins, the brutal losses, gave us so much pleasure and enjoyment. Roger Federer, thank you so much, your name is forever immortalised in the history of tennis, you'll be greatly missed but never ever forgotten.

Rafa bawling his eyes out was heartbreaking. Rafa just realized exactly that his half of a life is completely gone. Roger's presence in his life (first as a fiercest rival, later also become the best of friend) become so routine it feels natural to have him around. I think it's just struck Rafa at that moment, that he now for sure won't feel that "natural presence" again. It's always easier for Rafa not knowing when Roger will be back on tour, like for the past 2 years. Now Rafa has confirmation that Roger won't be back ever again.

I sometimes misunderstood you , you are the greatest sporting personality of my generation and no one has worn their heart on their sleeve like you have in your farewell match speech. That will also be a record that would remain unbeaten.

For me growing up, playing any sport I can, he has been the greatest across the board. Of course football fans will argue Messi and Ronaldo, Boxing, Ali or joe Frazier, some Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. But Federer just embodies some form of class and excellence, passion, respect that others have but not in such quantities. He changed tennis forever, alongside Rafa, Andy, Novak and the many others too of course, but his era began something truly special.

OMG!! Crying my eyes out! Roger is and always has been such a class act. This is the most emotional retirements I have ever watched. Rafa crying his eyes out made it even more special. It was very hard not to cry as soon as Fed started breaking down like a 12-year-old. little boy. Amazing speech and a great night in tennis history. Best wishes Federer.......definitely one of the GOATS.

A player like Federer only comes once every few generations. His style is a throwback to the olden days, but he adapted it to be a force in the modern game. He had grace, technique, footwork, touch and every shot in the book, next he gave so much to the fans and press, he was the complete package!!!! You will be terribly missed. Thank you so much you made tennis so enjoyable to watch over the past 24 years. Laver the King, Federer the Prince. IMO the greatest modern player in history both men & women.
