Pozzecco jumping on Giannis was my favorite moment of the Eurobasket. Second favorite is Ponitka's triple double.

    • Víctor Estévez
      Víctor Estévez Hace 2 meses

@chaotic_neutral Sure. It's my opinion. I am not Italian however I followed the Italian National Team for a while and I believe They could climb up to the next level if they put someone different in the bench. They finished 4rth in the groups stage in Italian sole and lost against France (Terrible tournament and they nearly made it). Likes... I prefer Popovich, Scariolo, Aíto García Reneses... rather than Bobby Knight, Pozzecco, Ataman and those guys performing a Comedy. That's my point, regardless how many trophies. Melli told him off several times for a reason, Great Melli remember guys.

    • chaotic_neutral
      chaotic_neutral Hace 2 meses +6

@Víctor Estévez No one here believes Pozzecco is a master strategist, but in tournaments like these teams are more in need of confidence boosts and team spirit building than anything else. Italy beat Serbia without Galinari and managed to become even more likeable for their fighting spirit. So, in these terms Pozzecco was successfull, no matter what you and I might think.

    • Víctor Estévez
Víctor Estévez Hace 2 meses +1

I'm sorry guys, Pozzecco is a clown. I don't even understand why on earth Recalcati was seated by that 'bufone'. They played rubbish in Milano and when matters the most this Pozzecco person perfoming an Italian comedy. Their Timeouts were embarrassing and ridiculous, in fact Melli called him out several times throughout the tournament. I believe Italy has a good generation to do something good and to lift a trophy.
The feeling is they are throwing key years away by placing people like this Pozzeco person in the bench. Trincchieri would have taken the team further. I would love to see them fighting in the semis/final at some point. Some guys are getting old and we have World Cup, Olympics and Eurobasket in the next 3 years. 23,24, and 25.

I'm Polish and this whole tournament was incredible. Doesn't matter we lost to France and Germany at the end. It's incredible that a team without a single NBA or even Euroleague player on the roster managed to get to the 4th place. Just like in 2019 when Polish team finished at the 8th place. It's uncanny how this team can play great one game and then play extremely bad in the next one

I wouldn't be surprised they had that intention as they wanted to give three throw, that they forgot to give after technical foul, to Lithuania at the end of 4th quarter against Germany. Insane...And what is more insane - they asked coach of Germany team if he won't mind it.

    • BasketNews

I showed that one, since it kind of reflects the whole tournament: bad call followed by a technical. And to your point, if that was really called for refs to redeem themselves, that only makes the case for questionable refereeing level stronger.

In the final, you have forgotten some mistakes from the referees against Spain in the most when his possession time was about to end and Spain threw the ball to the basket, it touched the hoop and Garuba caught the rebound and referres whistle time over…you have to be fair enough with boths teams… I do not like the minimum trascendence you treat an eurobasket, just for not having in the semifinals 3 or 4 of the NBA players you think were supossed had to be in; but clearly Spain show up like a true TEAM against the NBA way to adore individuals skills… That is what Eurobasket have taught us except for you, who has been entertained crying for Luka and blind to sports’s great values

Barely a couple of minutes earlier they stole a possesion from Spain (and free thrown for France + possesion). They whistled end of possesion after a shot and a Garuba offensive reboud when the ball clearly touched the rim, they also charged Scariolo with a technical foul as he complained about that.
Referee's answer: "I know, we made a mistake, but we can't just undo it".
I'm 100% sure that was called because they felt they "owed" it to the spanish team.

As a Bulgarian, I am proud of my country's performance despite the losses. Bulgaria isn't a power in basketball, but it's always great to see our team play in the Eurobasket. However the Georgian fans that booed us and the Georgian team's actions against the Turkish players were disgraceful, I am satisfied that we got a victory against them. FIBA failing to prevent issues like that is even more shameful.

  • Ceyhun Ozel

Overall this was the most exciting basketball tournament I’ve ever experienced in my 20 years of living. Unfortunately it had a lot of ups and downs, especially as a fan of Turkey. We got done wrong many times. Most of all in the Georgia game. The fact that our players played their heart out, and didn’t get any calls. Only to get jumped by the ejected players of the other team, as well as the police force tasked to protect us, is just disturbing! Rather than Georgia, I am mad at FIBA for letting such an act of unprofessionalism get by unpunished. Im sure if it were certain countries the double standard would apply. Thankyou for shedding some light on that situation. On another note I watched all the games in awe, and especially enjoyed every Germany performance!

The referees where probably trying to even things down with that controversial (inexistant) foul on Brown, after the took a very legit ball from Spain and a technical foul on Scariolo just minutes before (bad shot touched the rim, ended up as a Garuba rebound called as it had never touched the rim). Shame on them, of course, but they are also human. They should have revised both plays on video.

      1) We were missing our 2 main go to guys (Gallinari and Banchero). What would France Slovenia Greece Serbia look like without Gobert Fournier Doncic Dragic Giannis Dorsey Micic and Jokic?? We were very unlucky with injuries and unavailable players. 2) Fontecchio Melli Polonara Datome Spissu are all elite level names. You have a very weird definition of mediocre. Italy is easily in the world's top 10 and in Europe's top 6. We clearly are not mediocre. And next year (with Banchero Gallinari Okeke Procida Spagnolo and fully recovered Mannion), we are once again going to be in the world's top 5

But you know, that's basketball and above all that's life, you have to get up, clean the dust and walk again tall.

Exciting tournament indeed. I only wish the NBA would allow all players to play for their national teams. A bit too much focus on the superstars in this clip.

I loved the analysis....right till the semifinals. As soon as there were no NBA stars, some people (narrator included) lost interest, which makes sense, if you are an NBA fan. Eurobaskets has allways been a team-driven competition, and the fact that the medalists on this occasion had 0 starts, proves it. Teams beating starts was a thrilling lesson of sports, and as soon as it happens, narrator just brush it over. "Oh yeah and in the final France lost the ball a lot lol". I guess the magic of this eurobasket was lost for some people.
And BTW before the horrible call in favor of Spain in the final, like 1 minute before, there was another one, one shot clock violation against Spain that clearly touched the rim and it was clearly Spain´s ball. You didnt like the semis because it didnt have stars, and it shows.

Well said. It's a heavily pro-Balkans review. Eastern propaganda basically. The narrator is Eastern European and buys into all the NBA hype around overrated (and overweight) Doncic. (And he probably only knows English as a second language)

This EuroBasket perfectly demonstrated how Europe must make changes as soon as possible. The best teams are handicapped because NBA and EL players don't play and don't have time to adjust, while the weaker teams play together all the time and are much more adjusted.
Because of this, the quality of basketball is much weaker, and thus the interest in basketball as well. If we add to all that the disastrous refereeing in all the matches, here are the results... Including that Italian idiot, who is allowed to act like a clown, we get a circus, and not a supreme review of sports achievements.
P.S. The situation with Lorenzo Brown and bringing in a player with no connection to a particular country also does not reflect fair play and sportsmanship. Basketball should be cleaned up as soon as possible and returned to the fair play sports framework, before it is too late. Before sports and competition turn into a 100% circus with expensive tickets.

Feel bad for Giannis but Jokic and Luka having been going out that way in the league since they got here 😂. Let’s be honest here, he always carries his team to the playoffs just to get eliminated cause he has no help.

Saw the video, two weeks after. Tournament was crazy but what happened with referees kinda destroyed the image of it. World class players, maybe the greatest atm played in this tournament, just to have these type of refs. I know that they are humans and mistakes can happen, but from what i saw throughout the tournament it wasn't just mistakes. They even forgot to give a FT on a technical foul. I don't know how, but FIBA has to find a solution for the refs problem before it's too late. Since their breakup with Euroleague (they have taken all the good refs and they don't give permission to them to play in FIBA matches) and especially this year refereeing was POOR. Although, overall the tournament was great, giving us lot's of memories to contain such as Ponitka's historical triple double, the 2 upsets of Serbia and Slovenia, and last but not least the Spaniards that showed us how to win a trophy being a TEAM, and not just counting on one superstar.

Nice video, I dont like the last fault you show when the ref make a mistake, is not the best, to finish, but once an again, all goods team and the gold medal again to my Spain, you should show that France did not stay for the medals when we reach the Heaven again, anyaway maybye 4 gold medals is the proof, and with a B teaqm like evrybodys said. Anyway a part of f that good video. We are too happy from Spain and respect to all the tems who makles this lovely sport possible. Viva España 💪💪Campeona

@perexime pere So? Spain lost to belgium, does that mean belgium is a better team? No. Thats why nba has best of 5 system in playoffs, every team can have a bad day, a bad team can win agaisnt a good team, doesnt mean that they are better.
Spain is top 5 in europe, not the best.

@Karl König-Mehrtüssen dude, how many times do you have to mention this..?? If you think his views are biased because he grew up in the Balkans fine, but propaganda is a big accusation to make, meaning he intended to gain something by promoting NBA players.. His views are based on NBA ballers, like it or not, that's the stance he takes in his comments.. Now the claims about Luka Doncic, my friend, THIS is plain propaganda because he clearly caused some trauma to you and your teams.. Like Jokic, he could gain another 40kgs and still will ruin any team. Lastly, what's your mother tongue? I assume not English, judging by your name you were expecting more praise on Schröder..? Don't behave like a bitter child because he said stuff you don't agree with..

ofc they put up historic numbers but any single star player, especially one without a.shot like giannis will struggle much more on a european court and with european rules to carry a team on his back to the glory: don't get me wrong, he'll still score 30, but it's no coincidence none of the big 3 advanced even to the semis
